It’s difficult to write about and even tougher to remember and view all the videos and tributes to the people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
However, it is a time to remember not only the bad, but the good that came from such a horrific event.  Including the hard work of 300 search and Rescue canine teams.
We met Kenn Bell of the canine Files briefly this year at BlogPaws and he may have introduced it best in his first Hero Dogs of 9/11 video:
September 11, 2001
Terrorists Fly two passenger Jets into The world trade Center.
Within Hours, Both buildings Collapse.
Over 10,000 men and Women, The greatest Mobilization Of emergency workers In The history of The United States,  Heed The call For Help.
300 of These Heroes Are Dogs.

Remembering The Dogs From 9/11
I remember it like it was yesterday.  It was before I had Facebook or Twitter to see the most up to date news.  Instead I would flip on the television when I woke up in the morning to listen to the news before work.  However, on Septemeber 11, 2011 everything was different.  All channels were focused on two buildings on fire.  One of the most devastating events in history was unfolding best before my eyes.
Today not only do we remember the fallen, but also those 10,000 men and women who answered the call for help including 300 canine teams working at ground zero.

Watching this video not only reminds us of the heroics of the search and Rescue Dogs of 9/11, but it also makes us think about the fragility of life and the short period of time we have to spend with our own dogs.  Today is the 11th anniversary of 9/11 and many of the 300 hero dogs who risked their lives at ground zero have passed.  The life expectancy of a canine is really short and each day with your best buddy ought to be cherished.
So while you’re reading the news, viewing the videos, and remembering September 11th, 2001 also remember the hard working search and rescue dogs who put their lives on the line to try and save another life.  Then make sure you give your own canine a big hug and few extra treats.
