Mews and Nips: Kitten lady Rescues Kitten While on getaway in Peru

Hannah Shaw doesn’t typically take a break from rescuing and advocating for orphaned kittens, so when she and her boyfriend, cat photographer Andrew Martilla, went to Peru for a short vacation, the last thing they expected was to be, well, rescuing a kitten. Hannah heard screaming and followed the sound, to find a tiny kitten being passed around by some young boys. The terrified kitten was trembling when Hannah reached the boys, but rapidly calmed down once she was in Hannah’s arms. The kitten, who they named Munay, was in rough shape, there was no safe place to leave her, and Hannah and Andrew were scheduled to return to the US. They had less than 48 hours to figure out how to get the kitten on two flights and through us customs. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and Munay now lives with Hannah and Andrew until she is old enough to be adopted. For much more about this very special rescue, along with fantastic photos, please check out The Dodo. and of course, you can follow Munay’s progress on the Kitten lady Instagram and Facebook pages.
